Palios Panteleimonas

Palios Panteleimonas is located approximately 100 km away from Thessaloniki and it is a destination that can be easily and cheaply travelled to with your rental car. It is a restored village that has been characterized as traditional since 1978. Apart from the official administrative division, the locals inhabit three settlements: the Old Panteleimonas, traditional restored village • New Panteleimon, that is also the official town • The beach Panteleimon that is a summer resort with many tourists. The latter is a separate settlement in accordance with the Administrative Division. It stands at 700 meters above sea level providing a beautiful view. It is one of the best examples of traditional Macedonian architecture and the village has managed to retain its local colour. The beautiful streets, the restored stone mansions and rich flora and fauna, offer the visitor unique images. The name of the village was given to it due to the saint Panteleimonas. According to a traditional myth, because the inhabitants prayed to an image of the saint, it protected them from a plague that was decimating the residents of the surrounding areas.
