Paliouri

Paliouri is located 123 km south of Thessaloniki. Based on the census of 2001, it is populated with 788 inhabitants. Herodotus mentions a city called Theramvos which was previously at the point where the current Paliouri now lies. Paliouri is generally considered a cheap and affordable solution for those who want luxury on their vacation. The name of the village was given due to Paliouras which are thorny bushes, previously used for fencing houses. The village is lush and rich in pines. In the bay of Agios Nikolaos and Hersonissos there are findings showing the existence of this ancient city which you could visit by doing a tour with your rental car.
