Polichrono (Polihrono)
Polichrono (Polihrono) is around 100 km away from Thessaloniki. Today is one of the most famous places in Chalkidiki, known for its long beach that runs along the village. In the 11th century the village was named Colourful from the many flowers that were there. Because of the verbal corruption, the name evolved to Polichrono (Polihrono). During the period of Ottoman rule the village was burned and destroyed completely by the Turks. Later, the few remaining residents returned and started rebuilding the village from the beginning.
